What's the matter? Scared of a little lightning?

Hullo. My name's LJ, I'm 15, I'm deaf, and I love U2. Very much. And Loki. And Tom Hiddleston. You'll probably see mostly U2, Loki and Hiddles on this blog, but an odd Matt Bellamy might pop up here and there. I also tend to make a lot of sarcastic posts. I play the drums, and I love playing the sims. And Age Of Empires, that game was my childhood. I'm also a shameless Bono fangirl, so.. warning you all. in zoo station

|About Me|

Hey.

Well. Erm. As you may or may not already know, I’m LJ/Louise, Lou, DomDom, Dominic, Twixy or whatever weird nickname my friends are currently calling me by. If you’ve read my mini info box then you’ll know the cool stuff, but I decided I’d like to put a bit about being deaf on this page, it’s a long-ish explanation and…yeah.

So, here goes.

Deaf people experience vibration in an area of the brain that is used for hearing in people who are not deaf. This is why deaf musicians can sense the music. Since these vibrations are processed in the same area of the brain that sounds are, scientists believe that the deaf are able to experience sound in a unique way.

It’s very difficult to explain how it sounds to a hearing person, having been deaf since I was born, I have no way of differentiating a hearing world from a deaf world. I don’t know what one sounds like so how can I compare it with the other?

The only reason I can hear is because of the extremely advanced technology we have floating around today, powerful hearing-aids being one example. They’re pretty vital, without them, I hear absolutely nothing.

Because of this, I can play the drums, I can feel them too, so it’s much easier for me to play drums that it would be for me to play guitar.

And that concludes ~le weird rambling~ about my deafness.

So… onto actually talking about myself. Uh…well, I have to judge on what you guys want to know. Seeing as you did actually click ‘about’ I assume with the expectation of learning some more about me, I’m going to go on a bit of a ramble about myself here.

So, we’ve covered the being deaf part, which, by the way, feel free to ask me questions on, I’m always more than willing to answer.

What else can I talk about? Hm. Why don’t we do a good ol’ 50 facts?

  1. I’m 15.
  2. I have..err, blonde hair.
  3. Pretty sure my eyes are blue.
  4. My personality.. hmm… it’s odd.
  5. I can be quite friendly and nice to talk to. I think.
  6. But then I can just be a total arse.
  7. Kind of depends on the day. I’m normally pretty happy.
  8. Thanks to U2. Perfect band.
  9. So, I play the drooms. Yes.
  10. I learn in school.
  11. And I actually really enjoy school. Well, the learning part anyway. I’m not a people person.
  12. It’s cool. I love geography. Tectonics are my speciality.
  13. I plan to be a volcanologist. Or a seismologist.
  14. I’m also a complete physics/chemistry geek.
  15. Astrophysics especially. So amazing.
  16. I do well in school.
  17. And I have some of the greatest (read: completely out of their minds) friends. Ever. Seriously. Here’s one. And another. Oh look. These are just my real life friends though.
  18. On here, I’m just in a constant state of afjsdkflsjfls because SO MANY LOVELY PEOPLE. And I guess they know who they are. Yay.
  19. Moving on. I really like horses.
  20. I once ‘had’ a horse (she was mine okay, no-one else rode her. heh.) and she was absolutely nuts.
  21. She liked to bite me.
  22. And kick me.
  23. And throw me off and trample me.
  24. But I did love her to pieces.
  25. I also have a dog.
  26. His name is Quinn.
  27. He’s a black lab cross.
  28. He really likes food. And lying around all day.
  29. Kind of like me.
  30. I’m just blatantly extending my sentences as separate bullet points here.
  31. I’ve seen Muse live, twice.
  32. Once at Manchester LCCC which was bloody amazing.
  33. And then again at Reading 2011. Which was a bit crap.
  34. Which brings me onto the topic of seeing U2 live. :(
  35. Now, if you read my posts, you’ll know what my stance on this is.
  36. So I’ll spare you all that dramatic whining.
  37. But this is no word of a lie: I am actually planning on ‘following’ U2, if you like, across Europe for as long as I  can afford.
  38. It’s a dream, I know, but it can’t help to try, right?
  39. So. U2. Yes. Perfect people. Perfect band.
  40. My favourite song right now is Summer Rain.
  41. My favourite album is probably Zooropa, closely followed by The Joshua Tree and War. And then Achtung Baby.
  42. Hell, I love every bloody album. U2 are probably the only band that I can say I love every album, which is not to say I love every single song and b-side and idk every one of Bono’s random gasps in the middle of songs lol who am i kidding but I really do love their music.
  43. Hm. I could spend the rest of this talking about U2. But I acknowledge that not all my followers are huge U2 fans.
  44. So. Uh. Food. Food is always a great topic, right?
  45. I like jacket potatoes. A lot.
  46. And meat feast pizzas.
  47. And my friends will all tell you that I live on Coke.
  48. And my caffeine intake is through the roof. And they wonder how I’m still alive.
  49. But yes. It does mess up my sleep though. I’m out of it in the morning, slowly coming around in the afternoon and then by the evening I’m crawling around on the ceiling.
  50. And on that bombshell it’s time to end.

so i will end with me derping on a volcano with my hair looking ridiculous. yay.
